Moving Stories Master Class Saturday Sept 27

with Susin Nielsen, Paul Quarrington, Judith Keenan

CanWest Global Performing Arts Centre (MTYP), 10:00 am – noon

BookShorts Executive Director Judith Keenan and celebrated writers Paul Quarrington and Susin Nielsen represent a wealth of experience writing, adapting, and editing for film and television. Short or long, the best adaptations go beyond merely lifting a segment of dialogue and acting out a scene. Susin Nielsen and Paul Quarrington share tips and techniques in the creative process. Judith Keenan shows how to translate that experience into viable production processes. Come prepared to share your ideas and participate in this interactive workshop! We’ll premiere “Pavane,” the BookShort adaptation from Quarrington’s new novel The Ravine.

After Words: Paul Quarrington

September 25, 2008  10:30 pm - 11:30 pm

You probably know Paul Quarrington the acclaimed writer, but you should also know Paul Quarrington the lead singer/guitarist with “northern blues” band Porkbelly Futures. We get to hear him on his own—he’s a self-deprecating and sharp-witted lyricist with a voice to match.   Location:  Aqua Books, 274 Garry St.
